Anambra State, Light of the Nation has continued to shine as five teachers from the state received Presidential awards at the World Teachers Day celebration held at Eagle Square , Abuja.
The teachers received the 2022 President’s Teachers and Schools’ Excellence Awards in various categories.
Dr. Sabina Ijeoma Chukwunedum of Abbot Girls Secondary School, Ihiala won the overall best administrator in Nigeria in the Public Junior Secondary Schools category with Mrs. Marilyn Uchenna Ugokwe of SUSU College Nkpor clinching the best Private Senior Secondary School teacher award while Mrs. Eucharia Ikegwuonu of Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi came up as the first runner up in the Junior Secondary Schools category.

Mr. Hope Chekwube Ifetike of Government Technical College, Onitsha won the first runner up position in the Public Senior Secondary School category while the best Science Teacher award went to the Federal Government College, Onitsha.
Reacting to the development, the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh who was pleased with the feat recorded by the state poured accolades on the teachers for doing the state proud.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh noted that the exploits by the state teachers resulted from the commitment of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, who she said created an enabling environment for increase productivity in the state educational space.

She further said that the present administration is committed to providing value and skill based education, as well as raise a tribe of teachers who would hold their forte in the digitalised space.
The awardees who were presented with a bus, a Kia brand of car, a Salti Lady motorcycle and generating set, expressed appreciation to Gov. Soludo, for his passion toward education in the state, assuring that they would continue to give their best in educating, moulding and nurturing umu-akwukwo Anambra for the overall good of the state.
The President’s Teachers and Schools Award for Excellence is an annual event that marks the World Teachers Day celebration in Nigeria.
