The Aguata Transition Committee Chairman, Mr Chibueze Offorbuike has advised the 15 finalists of the Aguata Best Student Challenge to make good use of the exposure they had during the competition.
Mr Offorbuike made the remark on the occasion of presentation of prize and awards to the finalists which took place at the Aguata Local Government Secretariat on Wednesday.
The TC Chairman explained that the competition started with over 100 students, but in the end, they were left with 15 students who were sponsored on a trip to Ghana.
She congratulated the corps members on reaching the final stage and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity. She also expressed gratitude to Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo for providing her with a platform to empower youths to excel in their various fields.
She also thanked parents, teachers, and students for their presence, acknowledging the challenges they had faced.
Speaking also, a guest speaker, Reverend Johnmark enjoined the students to be proud of who they are and work to remain champions.
“As an African child, you should know that there’s nothing wrong with the colour of your skin. The real task is not achieving success, but staying successful.Hard work and dedication sustains success, therefore, you should work hard and smart “.
” To stay a champion, you must be inspired and not manipulated into success “, he said.
Highpoint of the event is the presentation of prize and awards to the 15 finalists.
Master Chibueze Okonkwo of Community Secondary School, Igboukwu, who came 1st was given a cheque of #500,000, while Miss Kosisochukwu of Holy Child Secondary School,Isuofia was given #100,000 for the 2nd position.
Miss Favour Ochiogu of Urban Girls ‘ Secondary School, Ekwulobia was given #50,000 for the 3rd position.
The other 12 finalists were also given consolation prizes and some cash.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion were Traditional ruler of Uga, Igwe Steven Ezenwugo, traditional ruler of Isuofia, Igwe Christopher Moughalu, Zonal Director For Education, Aguata, Mrs Charity Igwe and Board Member, Post Primary School Commission.
