Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, paid a visit to the Lokpanta cattle market in Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA) and Eziama Nunya community in Isuikwuato LGA to conduct an on-the-spot assessment following a recent attack by unidentified assailants. The attack left one person injured and resulted in the disappearance of 65 cattle.
CP Isa, accompanied by his team, expressed deep sympathies to the affected community members and assured them of the Abia State Police Command’s commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. He urged the community to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and cooperate fully with the ongoing police investigation.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, it was revealed that 56 of the 65 missing cattle have already been recovered with the assistance of local guards from Seriki Hausa. Efforts are still underway to recover the remaining cattle and apprehend the assailants.
“To expedite justice, the Command, in collaboration with local guards from Seriki Hausa, has successfully recovered 56 of the missing cattle. Intensive operations are in progress to track down the remaining cattle and apprehend the assailants,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, promising that no stone would be left unturned in the pursuit of justice for the community. Further patrols and surveillance operations have been deployed in the area to prevent any future incidents.
