By Rita Okonkwo  :

Traders in Anambra State have expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo for abolishing all forms of levies for wheelbarrow pushers, hawkers and vulcanizers across the State.

The new caretaker committee Chairman, Nkwo Igboukwu Market, Mr. Uchenna Umennolim during the inauguration of the marke’st new executive in Awka explained that these categories of artisans who push so hard daily under the sun and rains earn so little, sometimes nothing at the end of the day.

The Chairman expressed relief that Gov. Soludo has considered the poorest artisans and lifted the burden of paying levies off their shoulders, giving them a sense of belonging in his government and hope for a greater future in Anambra.

Mr. Umennolim thanked the governor for his good works, and pledged to take care of Nkwo Igboukwu and the traders therein, together with his new executive members to support Soludo in reforming the market.

Also speaking during the occasion of the swearing in, the Special Advicer to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Mr. Eloka Maduekwe reminded the new executive that there is no increment to normal levies paid by traders in all markets, and that they should ensure that they do not impose any other levies or tolls on traders.

Inaugurating the committee on behalf the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, the HOD Markets in the Ministry, Mr. Frank Iloduba and his assistant, Mrs. Jossy Eboh-Nwosu enjoined the new executive to work as a team in order to lead the market to enviable heights.
