The management of Anambra Times has received news of the transition of Chief Maja Umeh, former Commissioner of Information in Anambra State, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Late Maja Umeh was an active player in the government and politics of Anambra State for nearly two decades. He initially served as Political Adviser in the Peter Obi administration before his appointment as Information Commissioner in the same government. A leading member of APGA, Umeh played the role of unofficial adviser to the Willie Obiano administration. In these capacities, Umeh contributed to Anambra’s success story. His services particularly impacted on the State’s political stability and the narrative of Anambra’s development image.
Although weighed down by declining health in the past few years, Umeh was quietly available in the service of the State. His calm composure and rich sense of humour endeared him to many. Late Maja Umeh will be missed in many quarters.
