Daughters (Umuada) of Akpo in Aguata Local Government Area have embarked on a 2-days fasting and prayers to tackle insecurity ravaging Nigeria.
The women converged at Nkwo Akpo asking God to intervene on the security situation of the country, believing that it has defied human knowledge and wisdom.
The Chairperson of the Umuada, Mrs. Veronica Okechukwu while interacting with Information Officers shortly after the prayers said, “we converged to bring God into security situation of Nigeria.
“Our leaders are doing the best they can yet, their best have not been good enough to solving the problems instead they are increasing.
“We have prayed, believing that God has intervened; our politicians ought to learn lessons from what is happening.
“They need not give young people guns again in the interest of winning elections because the ones they gave before now, they were unable to retrieve from them which is largely the problem of insecurity today’’.
She noted that religion is about the worship of divinity or unseen powers, in one’s own understanding of divine powers.
“Tolerance is requisite to accommodating these diverse understandings; shedding innocent blood in the name of religion is therefore barbaric.
“We have advised mothers to take the messages of self realization home; our children should know from us that they have come into this world through God for a purpose.
“They are potential presidents, government functionaries, chairmen and captains of industries. They should eschew dying for anybody’s personal aggrandizement. Make your children know their values and what God created them for.
“I have told my fellow women to go home and educate their children on dangers of drug abuse. It is about their lives.’’
Mrs Okechukwu frowned at parents who peddle these drugs in the name of making money even when they know that it is destructive to users and the society in general.
“If you use drug to destroy other people’s children, you have sown a bad seed. Surely you will reap it, with your children continuing where you stopped. “
She enjoined the traditional rulers to work in harmony with the Presidents General of their communities to foster peace.
“It is only when there is peace in a community that you could talk about progress,’’ she said.
She commended Gov. Charles Soludo’s doggedness in giving Ndi Anambra a secured livable state.
“Our governor has introduced modern system of managing waste products. He deserves our support hence it is in the interest of all of us; his waste management style is unprecedented. We need it for a better Anambra.
“Offer support as you obey government directives with regard to sanitation in the State,’’ she said.
