The United States of America has issued voting guidance to its citizens living in Nigeria and other parts of the world on how to cast their votes from their locations ahead of the November 5th election.
The guidance was announced by the United States Mission in Nigeria via their official account, stating the three steps the citizens must follow to participate in the electoral process and ensure their votes are counted.
The statement explains that US citizens must request their ballots from the website of the Federal Voting Assistance Programme, follow the provided instructions to fill out the ballot and submit it. “Most states allow citizens to confirm their registration and ballot delivery online. However, US citizens living in Nigeria are required to drop their completed ballot in a postage-paid envelope at the Consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate General in Lagos or mail it themselves.
“The deadline to submit the ballots to the Embassy is October 3rd, 2024, to ensure they arrive by election day. After this date, we will continue to collect the ballots and mail them, but we cannot guarantee their arrival by election day,” the statement noted.
