Professor Obiora Okonkwo, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in the upcoming November 2025 Anambra State governorship election, has pledged to institutionalize the popular “Igbo apprenticeship scheme” if elected. He emphasized that education and human capital development would be the foundation for Anambra State’s regeneration under his administration.
Addressing APC members from the 326 wards in the state, Okonkwo stated, “We will prioritize quality education, vocational training, and skills development to ensure that our young people are equipped for the future. In addition, we shall take strategic and collaborative steps to institutionalize ‘Nkwado Ogaranya’ (Igba Boi) to reinvigorate the entrepreneurial spirit of Ndi Anambra.”
Okonkwo, who is also the chairman and CEO of an African airline, praised the performance of the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government and pledged to cascade the transformation agenda of the APC-led central government to Anambra State. He highlighted Anambra’s potential, noting that the state is blessed with some of the brightest minds, industrious entrepreneurs, and resilient people in Nigeria.
However, he lamented that Anambra has not lived up to its full promise due to lost opportunities, governance shortcomings, and insecurity. Okonkwo assured that his administration would address these issues and provide real security for the people.
