The outgone 7th Anambra State House of Assembly has awarded the trio; the Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe, former Clerk, Mr. Pius Udoh and the former member of the 6th Assembly, Mr. Amalachukwu Anazodo with “Merit Award” for the illustrious services they rendered while at the State Legislature.
The award was bestowed on them on the floor of the State Legislature during the Valedictory Session that heralded the end of the 7th Assembly on June 8.
The Speaker, Mr. Uche Okafor who presided over the plenary session described the award as a way of appreciating them for diligent work rendered to the House during their stay.
It could be recalled that the State Head of Service(HOS), Barr. Theodora Okwy Igwegbe served the State Legislature as deputy Clerk from 2015 to 2019 before she was transferred out of the Assembly to the State.
Mr. Pius Ojiakor Udoh who hails from Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area was the Clerk of the House from 2012 to 2022.
Mr. Amalachukwu Kenneth Anazodo from Umudim Nnewi who is presently the deputy National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) represented his constituents diligently at the 6th Assembly.
The Speaker however, expressed appreciation to everyone that participated in the Valedictory Session that lasted for hours.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of Award, Mr. Udoh expressed happiness for having worked as the Clerk of the Assembly, saying that he served seven Speakers during his stay.
Equally, Barr. Igwegbe described her stay at the State Legislature as a stepping stone to more opportunities that have come to her.
Meanwhile, Valedictory Thanksgiving Mass was performed by three Reverend Fathers from Awka Catholic Cathedral and St. Mathias Aquinas Catholic Church, Awka to thank God for keeping the lawmakers in good health to see the end of the 7th Assembly.
