The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, has raised an urgent call for public intervention following shocking revelations about an 18-year-old apprentice who allegedly impregnated 10 girls within five months.
The young man, initially sent to serve as an apprentice, reportedly impregnated his master’s daughter and a salesgirl within just three months of arriving at his training post. Following his dismissal and return to his village, he allegedly impregnated eight more girls within two months.
Disturbed by the situation, the boy’s mother reached out to the Commissioner’s office, expressing deep concern over the unusual series of events. “Anytime I see a girl approaching our house, my heart jumps,” she lamented.
Obinabo, in a live video shared on social media, admitted that the matter was beyond her immediate capacity and solicited advice from the public on potential solutions. She speculated on whether deeper psychological or spiritual factors could be involved, given the boy’s young age and the scale of the situation.
The Commissioner refrained from revealing the boy’s identity or his community, citing privacy considerations. Meanwhile, the issue has sparked intense discussions on social media, with many suggesting counseling, rehabilitation, and community-based support as potential interventions.
The unfolding story continues to draw attention from residents and government officials alike, underscoring the importance of addressing the matter through holistic solutions that prioritize the well-being of all affected individuals.
