Anambra State Government has distributed smart tech. devices and organized a one day workshop and reorientation for selected youths on local enterprises development scheme known as Umuboi apprentice scheme .
Addressing the beneficiaries at the Prof. Dora Akunyili women Development Center, Awka the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba disclosed that the programme under the 1Youth 2Skills initiative was designed to empower youths and combat “get rich quick syndrome”, which is prevalent among the youths.
He added that every Umuboi is already a potential Master and Millionaire since they will learn the trade while being close to their customers.

The commissioner said that the Umuboi programme would involve the use of smart tech devices of talking book and pen containing all the modules for better teaching and learning, “this makes it possible for Umuboi to go through the lectures even in the shops”.
He said that the workshop would enable the Umuboi beneficiaries to acquire knowledge on the use and operational modalities of the devices given to them.
The Chairman Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Augustine Onyeka Chukwuike advised the Umuboi to always show committment and seriousness in the programme to enable them to realize the objectives of the state government.
The President General of Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association, Chief Humphrey Anuna commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for being youth friendly and thanked the ministry for its efforts in carrying everyone along in the programme.
One of the resource persons who is also the DG Onitsha Business School, Mr. Olusegun Sogbesson who took them on setting the right values for sustainable business, encouraged the beneficiaries to engage in Collaboration, Continuous learning, Change, Growth and Discipline.
The second resource person, Mr. Ifeanyi Muojieje who took them on application of talking book and pen, advised them to make optimum use of the devices.
Present at the event were the State Chairman, Traditional Rural Council, who was represented by HRH, Igwe Nebo of Akwaeze in Anaocha LGA, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Engr. Martin Agbili and other Management staff of the Ministry.
Others are the Special Assistant to the governor on Youth Development, Engr. Tony Omata, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Mr. Chibuzor Udeh as well as the Executive Members of ASMATA.
