Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba has revealed that the State Government has mapped out a 2.5 billion naira project for different skill acquisition programmes and trainings for the youths of the state.
The commissioner made this revelation in a thanksgiving mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral Church, Awka.
He said that the government has mapped out several programmes aimed at developing the Youths and making them better entrepreneurs rather than be allowed to roam the streets as mere consumers and mischief makers.
The commissioner added that the government has plans to build a smart mega City in which the Youths will help to pilot.
Mr. Agha Mba, then, commended the government for its role at grooming the Youths of the state to enviable heights.
He prayed to God to help the ministry and the government achieve these aims.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Paschal Udo, Principal of St Patrick’s Secondary School, Awka, said that prayer can move mountains; he urged everyone to always seek the face of God before embarking on any project.
He praised the commissioner for seeking God’s grace and guidance for achieving excellence pointing that it is good to train the Youths in the way they should go so that when they are more elderly, they will not depart from it.
Those who accompanied the commissioner to the thanksgiving mass include, the Deputy President National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Mr. Innocent Nduanya; State Chairman NYCN, Mr. Emeka Obi; Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth President, Mr. Onyedika Eweh and the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youth Wing Board of Trustee Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Ozalagba.
