Anambra State Government says it will continue to support farmers and the farming community as they continue to contribute to the agricultural productivity of the state.
The State Commissioner For Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor,stated this while receiving a delegation from United Business Women Association in his office.
He said the biggest key to sustained productivity is to ensure that farmers are continuously supported, so that they can perform better.
While pledging to provide inputs and irrigation facility for the association to enhance all season farming ,he said government would continue to offer support services to existing farmers association.
Contributing, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Ifeyinwa Uzoka, urged them to ensure their members get value for their farm produce by cultivation any available land organically.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the Association, Mrs Chiemeka Ositadinma, explained that the platform was established to support women farmers in the state.
She added that the over 6,000 membership of the association comprised women working together with a passion to improve the agricultural productivity of women.
“We are committed to encouraging women farmers on urban and sack farming to ensure that households eat purely organic food.We have secured 100 plots of land for farming activities”
The facilitator of the visit, Mr Eddy Muojekwu,noted that the platform was designed to empower women in agriculture.
