Anambra Indigenes living in New York City, United States of America are set to host a cultural festival which is tagged; “Anambra Indigenes Cultural Festival 2022”.
The event will take place on September 3, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church 114-58170th, St. Jamaica, NY 11434.
The festival according to Onowu Anthony Ume-Ezeoke, President of the Anambra Indigenes, New York, is to exhibit and promote the rich culture of Ndi Anambra to the Americans and the rest of the world.
He noted that America has a national celebration that comes up every first Monday of September known as “Labour Day” in which every of its state displays its culture.
“Instead of us allowing our Children to watch other people’s culture and way of life, we decided to organize our festival to teach them our own culture and traditions and as well display and promote it for others to see.
“It is high time for us to wake up and speak in one voice for Ndi Anambra and Ndi Igbo at large so that our language, culture, values, and traditions do not go into extinction.
“This festival will be an annual event to help teach our children where they came from, the way of life of Ndi Igbo, Anambra in particular and as well direct them on the right path.’’
He, then, thanked the governor of Anambra State and the Commissioner for for the good work they are doing in the state to make it the light of the nation.
