Led by the Chairperson, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, the delegation aimed to foster a closer working relationship between NAWOJ and FRSC.
Ifejika described Alexander as a trailblazer, being the first female Sector Commander in the state, and emphasized NAWOJ’s mission to support outstanding women.
Responding, Sector Commander Alexander expressed her delight at receiving the group and acknowledged the power of the media and women’s roles in promoting road safety.
“I am truly honored to have great people like you here today. I feel as if I am among my own people. I am more of a media person than an operations person, having been the face of FRSC almost throughout my career.
“I appreciate this gesture. I know that with this partnership, my work will be more effective in this state. I fully understand the power of the media and the significant role women play,” she noted.
She outlined her focus on spreading safety messages and ensuring citizens adhere to traffic laws, highlighting her “MARC” campaign to educate mothers on road safety regulations.
“My major project is ‘MARC’—Mothers Against Road Crashes—a campaign to educate mothers on road safety regulations. Within the next three weeks, FRSC will engage in public enlightenment, and I am specifically partnering with NAWOJ.
My interest lies not in the number of bookings per day but in the improved road safety behavior of Ndi Anambra,” she explained.
Alexander noted the need for state government support to function effectively and identified ignorance and recklessness as major contributors to road crashes.
Comrade Monic Okechukwu, General Manager of Kpakpando Fm, stressed the media’s role in public enlightenment and urged the command to utilize various media outlets to spread road safety messages.
In her vote of thanks, the Head of Operations, Mrs. Okara Awassam emphasized that the visit marked a significant milestone, being the first time a woman leads the Anambra command, and sets the stage for a productive partnership between NAWOJ and FRSC.
