The Anambra State Government through the State Ministry of Health has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to organise a 3-day review of 2023, first quarter Annual Operation Plan (AOP) in the state.
UNICEF is a global organization that works to improve the lives of children and their families.
The meeting held in Awka, attracted participants from the State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Health Insurance, Civil Society Organization and Health Partners.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that the 3-day review of 2023, first quarter 2024 AOP meeting is to ensure everyone aligns towards common goals as well as ensure all team members understand the ministry’s objectives and priorities.
“This helps us to facilitate resource allocation, as well ensure optimal allocation of resources, budget and identify, address potential risks and challenges.
“Boosts our employee engagement, involves the staff-members in the planning process, increases motivation and commitment.
“We have set clear expectations, define roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for each member here.
“We have reflected on past performance which has helped us to set new ambitions and we are determined to achieve our goals.
Dr. Obidike explained that the AOP meeting is a crucial event that holds significant importance in his ministry.
The Commissioner commended UNICEF for their continued support in the healthcare of the state while assuring the public that Gov. Charles Soludo’s administration is committed to improving the healthcare system of the state.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo commended the participants for their contributions urging them to put more effort while discharging their duties so as to improve the healthcare of the state.
Earlier, Head of Planning Department, Research and Statistics, Anambra Ministry of Health, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu said the meeting offered the state the opportunity to review 2023 AOP as well as articulate the activities that have been done in the 1st quarter of 2024.
“In the meeting we were able to brainstorm on what we can do to achieve the objectives of the mission of the health sector in 2024 and we are eternally grateful to UNICEF for their support.”
