Anambra State Government has suspended operations of a hotel in Awka, where a pool sex party was held.
In a display of the party which had gone viral especially on social media, some youths were seen nude and openly having sex to the full glare of other guests who were hailing and spraying them with money.
The Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, while signing the seal order which was dated September 8, said the action was to enable government and security agencies to conduct investigations on the matter.
He, then, explained that the action was in line with Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law 2016.
Onyenji said, “Our attention has been drawn to the social media video of live sex and pornographic content conducted on Sep.3 at an open place in your hotel/facility.
“This and other such indecent operational standard and unholy acts of public show of indecency must not be allowed in any hotel in Anambra.
“Government of Anambra hereby directs the management of Wintess Garden Hotel to shut down operations pending further investigations and review of their application”.
Reacting to the development, the General Manager of the Hotel, Mr. Ndibe Ikeh while expressing dismay at the incident said it did not represent the Hotel’s values and operational principles.
“Wintess Garden Hotel is a responsible organization with good moral values, our services are open to the public.
“As a management, we condemn the act and call for thorough investigation into the matter; we apologize for this embarrassment and thank the state Government for its kind intervention.’’
