Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism is set to organize an event “Entertainment meet and greet,” to revamp and sustain the entertainment industry in the state.

The event tagged, “Entertainment meet and Greet”, is billed to take place on November 23 in Awka.

The town hall meeting will connect home-based musicians, comedians, filmmakers, dancers, Disc Jockies, hypemen, influencers among others through the creation of a platform and an interactive session with the government so as to boost the creative industry of the state.

The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji said this in a meeting with the entertainers at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

According to him, the creative economy commands the biggest employment population and it is full of young talented people who need to be empowered and given professional guidance to enable them to build themselves and have breakthroughs in their fields.

“If you check, Ndi Anambra are doing great in the entertainment industry out there; we need to synchronize and ensure we share values, knowledge and resources in other to make our homeland what it should be.

” So if we create a robust homeland where everything is good and our hospitality tourism is striving, Anambra State by extension to the Southeast will take a different economic shape.

“Therefore, we need to link our home-based entertainers with those out there so that those who are here can be harnessed and given opportunities to sell themselves,” he said.

The Commissioner noted that the perception of Anambra State as an insecure state by people outside the state is very wrong noting that Anambra is safe and the people are living a normal life.

“There is no society that does not record crimes. If you check the statistics on the crime rate in Nigeria, you will realize that crime happens in Anambra once in a while compared to the ones committed in other states.”

On his part, the Financial Secretary/Treasurer of the Deejays Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Mr. Brent Ndumanya thanked the commissioner for meeting with them, noting that it is a good development that the government is showing interest in the entertainment industry.
