Anambra State government has debunked the ban on Bet9ja, Naira bet, and other lottery activities flying on social media as “false.”
This was made known in a statement released to the public on Oct 22, by the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji.
The commissioner stated that the Anambra State government did not ban any betting organizations and lottery activities as stated by some mischief makers.
He noted that government only directs all operators of casino games within hotels, restaurants, and bars to suspend all operations with immediate effects as a result of written and video petitions on suspected fraudulent practices, lack of transparency, and nonpayment of game winnings to players.
The directives according to him, were in collaboration with the Ministry of Homeland Affairs and Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), announced to the public on October 18th, 2022.
The circular also invites all hotel owners and bars in the state to a meeting held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Agu-Awka on Friday, October 21st.
“Government has identified the owners of those casino machines and has advanced investigations on the complaint,” he said.
He encouraged all other similar operators not affected by the order to go back to their businesses undisturbed, and disregard the false reports.
