Anambra State Government Inaugurates 3.3km Road at Amaezike-Agulu

The Anambra State Government has commissioned about 3.3km road constructed by a philanthropist, Evang. Ugochukwu Okoye (Ugolanson) at Amaezike Village, Agulu.

The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo while commissioning the road, commended Evang. Okoye for the gesture and called for more grassroots’ support and assistance in the provision of social amenities in the state.

He said that the gesture was in support and demonstration of the topmost priority that his government places on critical infrastructures especially good road networks and in line with his vision which is to create a livable and prosperous homeland for Ndi Anambra.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma said such private interventions from the likes of Ugolanson motivate and encourage the government and called on other public spirited individuals of the state to emulate such gesture.

He thanked the people of Agulu for their continued support to his administration and urged them to take ownership of the road by protecting it and avoid dumping refuse in the drainages to ensure that it lasted,

The governor assured them that the government would continue to provide conducive environment for peace and development to thrive in all parts of the state.

Earlier in a welcome address, the President General of Agulu People’s Union, Chief Oliver Afamefula commended the State Government for gracing the occasion. He extolled the giant strides of the government particularly in tackling the numerous security challenges bedeviling the state.

According to him, Ndi Anambra are now enjoying adequate security of lives and properties in addition to other recorded achievements just within few months in office, we are proud to say that the solution is here.

Chief Oliver expressed appreciation to Evang. Ugochukwu Okoye for singlehandedly bankrolling the construction of the road as well as other human capital and infrastructural development he has embarked upon in the community.

“With this gesture, Chief Okoye has once again risen to the occasion to prove himself a selfless, a true patriot and a worthy son of Agulu,

“With the empowerment of about 600 members of the community, both the youths and the elderly, he has clearly taken up the task of putting smiles on the faces of people around him.’’

In their separate remarks, the Igwe, Agulu, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor and the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Gerald Ozo commended Chief Okoye for giving back to the society in appreciation of the favour he has received from God.
