The Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, has commended members of the Land Reform Committee for their selfless service to the peoplele of the state.
Prof. Amaucheazi made the commendation while receiving the interim report on land reform on behalf of the State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo in his office at the Ministry of Lands, Awka.
Speaking, Prof. Amucheazi thanked the committee for living up to expectation and assured them that government will study the report and take necessary steps towards implementation of the white paper that would emanate from it.
The commissioner further said that the report would be of immense help to the state especially at a time the Government is poised to make the state the first choice investment destination for industrialization and commercial activities.
He called on Ndi Anambra to support the governor’s efforts towards building a liveable and prosperous homeland that would be the pride of the Igbo people.
He, then, reiterated the determination of the ministry to adequately train its members of staff for optimum performance in the discharge of their duties.
Earlier, the Alternate Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Pius Umeh who submitted the report on behalf of the members thanked the State Government for finding them worthy to contribute their quota towards achieving the objectives of the government.
He said, “although this was an interim report, it is quite comprehensive and had adequately dealt with the Committee’s terms of reference in the areas and period under review.”
Mr. Umeh noted that there were some layouts that were not covered in the report because of exigency of time.
He promised that these areas would be covered in the next phase of the committee’s work.
Mr. Umeh urged the State Government to give them more time so to as to enable it conclude on the areas not covered.
