Juventus Chukwunweike Okoli :
What seems to be an impossibility was done within an hour or two yesterday at Onitsha where Team A2 of the Anambra State Joint Enforcement Team, ANJET, led by some top leaders of the outfit in the state Hon. Salomon Chukwuebuka Onwuemene and Comr. Okwudiri C. Ohanazoeze unblock the Uga road at the Head Bridge Market Onitsha.
A task which prior to yesterday would have seem an uphill task. Indeed, it was a big surprise as the famous Uga road that houses Ogbo Rod was within a short period decongested to the astonishment of the traders themselves, their customers and all those who got the privilege of driving across that particular road yesterday.
The admirers of the noble work done by the ANJET Team A2 spoke in words containing powerful prayers and thanksgiving that God will continue to bless Mr. Governor for walking his talks of creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in the state and of making Anambra State a liveable and prosperous homeland. They praised God for giving Anambra State a governor who has the heart to deliver on his campaign promises and the four cardinal pillars of his administration, namely, environment, rule of law and order, economic transformation and social agenda.
Immediately after the decongestion on the popular busy road, in astonishment the traders and customers lament why on earth the road cannot be allowed to permanently remain free for all road users. They called on the state government to sustain the tempo and to make sure that all those who would want to block this road again be made to legally pay for their excesses!
The enforcement team on completion of its assigned duty at the said market that yesterday paid a courtesy call to Hon. Chinedu Ezebuike, the President General (PG) of the Bridge Head Market and some of his executive members in his office where elaborate discussion was held to brainstorm on the best way to maintain that road as it was that yesterday after the decongestion.
At the brief meeting, it was agreed that the President general will communicate the outcome of the meeting with the market leaders and the top ranking State Leaders of ANJET to all those who trade or buy on that road, as well as all others including the customers who park their cars or the heavy duty vehicles there unendingly in the name of loading and offloading and all the mobile traders who trade across the gutters or having their shops erected directly on the drainages (gutters). It was equally agreed that the market leaders led by their PG will take the early part of next week to ensure that their members as a matter of urgency and necessity adhere to the State Government’s directives that all roads, including the roads in Anambra markets, be opened and made free for movements of people, goods and services.
They were given enough time to ensure that they finish this task before next week Friday, being 14th of October, 2022 when the ANJET personnel from its Team A2 Unit operating in Onitsha will begin daily enforcement on the Uga road. They were clearly made to understand, that all offenders from coming Friday, 14/10/22 must be nabbed and prosecuted at the mobile court. God bless Anambra.
