Anambra State Football Association(ANSFA) has unveiled its programme for accelerated development of football in the state.
The ceremony attracted scores of Ex International stars drawn from various parts of the country including Mobi Oparaku, Ibe Johnson, Okwuchukwu Obiora, Paul Obiakor and host of others.
Chairman of the Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, Ex Super Eagles, described the event held at the Awka City Stadium as first of its kind staged to identify hidden talents, empower youths and nurture them to stardom.
He explained that it was in fulfilment of his pledge on assumption of office to revive grassroots football competitions in all the 21 local government areas.
The ANSFA Boss added that being a product of Schools Sports, he would liase with the state government to promote football competitions among schools as well as encourage existing clubs to move to the next level.
Speaking during the event with participation of no fewer than 60 clubs, male and female, Manager of Nnewi United Football Club, Olisa Onuchukwu, lauded the effort of the association under the watch of the new Chairman for touching the lives of upcoming players.
While describing the Chairman as a successful player and seasoned administrator, he stated that the initiative would give football development the desired boost in nearest future.
One of Ex Internationals, Mobi Oparaku, called for a concerted effort by all stakeholders to take the nation’s football back to it glorious days.
