The Anambra State Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Okwy Igwegbe, has received a Merit Award by the parting members of the Anambra State House of Assembly (ANSHAS) in recognition of her impeccable services during her time as Deputy Clerk of the State House of Assembly, from 2015-2021.
The award was presented during the valedictory Plenary of the 7th Assembly at the State House, Awka.
Although she is presently the Head of Service, her work during her time as clerk in the House of Assembly continues to speak volumes, hence the reason the house reached a consensus to bestow on her a Meritorious Service Award.
Presenting the award, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, represented by the Deeputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim appreciated the efforts of the 7th Assembly for her efforts in encouraging diligence.

He noted that Barr. Igwegbe’s exemplary diligence is worthy of emulation, encouraging her and other awardees to continue in the light of true commitment to duty as hard work really pays.
Receiving the award, the HOSe who was accompanied by her husband, Prof. Igwegbe, acknowledged God Almighty for His benevolence toward her and her household.
She thanked, the Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor for all his gestures toward her and her office while she was in the House of Assembly and even presently as Head of Service.
The Civil Service boss, commended all the members of the 7th Assembly of the Anambra State for their love toward the Civil Service and being forthright partners at all times.
Barr. Igwegbe did not forget to thank His Excellency, Prof. Soludo for being a listening governor who has provided them a conducive working atmosphere to thrive as Civil Servants.
She noted that the merit award to her only represented the need for more efforts and diligence, promising to continue to lead the service with all her might until the Anambra Civil Service becomes a standard for emulation.
She, then, dedicated the award to the workers of the state, thanking her husband Prof. Igwegbe for being instrumental and of great support through her blossoming career.
Earlier, Mr Pete Ibida, member representing Njikoka II Constituency who read the biography of the Head of Service expressed his satisfaction with the process, congratulating Mr. Okafor, the Speaker Anambra 7th Assembly for his excellent leadership style.
Other members of the House who took turns to breifly share their experience were all thankful to the good people of Anambra State and indeed their constituents for having faith in them.
Other awardees were Hon. Amara Anazodo, former member, Anambra House of Assembly and Mr. Pius Udoh, former clerk, Anambra House of Assembly.
