ASUU Strike Unacceptable Says Obi

By Ifeyinwa Ogwo :

Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi says that the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike is unacceptable.

He said this in his tweet on Wednesday when the ASUU body and the federal government could not reach a compromise on resolving the issues that lead to the strike.

Mr. Obi then advised the federal government to negotiate with ASUU, noting that the strike has lingered for too long and it is unfortunate that they have allowed it to linger to the detriment of the students.

“It is a good thing that our governors have decided to step into the matter, which shows good leadership and I hope that with this direct constructive engagement, the strike will be called off very soon,” he tweeted.

Recall that ASUU went on strike on February 14, 2022, to demand the implementation of the renegotiated 2009 agreement between them and the federal government.
