The Awka Museum Foundation has held 3rd edition of arts exhibition in Awka.
The arts exhibition titled “Repairs”attracted students within Awka metropolis and beyond as well as lovers of arts who were on hand to appreciate arts as a conveyor of histories.
Arts works featured at the exhibition mostly portrayed various life circumstances and the intent to handover to the younger generation their heritage and give them a feeling of connection to their past.
Guilding the students through the appreciation of the arts and reflections they offer, Osinachi Okafor, Chioma Okoli and Chidera Uzoma said that as visual artists they specialise in using artworks to tell stories.
Osinachi, a scholar at Rice University Art Department, Houston, Texas,USA explained that she saw the need to recapture old memories through her arts with a view to making new projections for a brighter future.
She further explained that through the title”Repairs” We see art as a form of healing, a way to address the fractures and gaps left by years of exclusion and oversight.It is not just an exhibition, it is a movement towards recognition, restoration and renewal”
Contributing, a University Don who doubles as the Rector, Renaissance Polytechnic, Mbaukwu, Prof Clifford Nwanna, appreciated the organizers for creating an opportunity for students to experience arts which could motivate those with unique talents to pursue it with passion.
Some of the students and lovers of art works noted that the exhibition has helped to widen their knowledge about the art world.
