Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that Awkuzu General Hospital offers Neurosurgical services.
Dr. Obidike said this during his visit with some medical experts to the Awkuzu General Hospital, Oyi Local Government Area.
He reiterated the commitment of Gov. Charles Soludo in ensuring that Ndi Anambra receives quality and affordable care from government owned hospitals.
“Neurosurgeons are involved in preventing, diagnosing and treating disorders of the brain, spine and nerves.
“They also treat and manage conditions that affect the flow of blood to the brain, as well as performing operations and they are equally involved person’s rehabilitation after treatment.
“So, this hospital now has a boost of qualified, sound neurosurgeons and it’s left for people that need their services to start visiting the hospital to get their problem solved.
According to him, the hospital has modern medical equipment with a serene environment and is powered with solar.
“We call on other Communities to emulate Awkuzu people because of their huge investment in building this hospital as well as equipping it without waiting for the government.
“Our partnership with them is already yielding fruit because we have deployed medical personnel that works here, people are receiving care as well.’’
The Commissioner commended the healthcare workers for being at their duty post expressing his joy that he met them attending to patients.
“I didn’t inform them that we are coming here to assess things so our wish is for them to keep it up.’’
He informed that the hospital was built and equipped by Awkuzu Adinma Group but with no human resources to function.
“So, during our first few months in office we visited here to assess this hospital, we were amazed with what we met and after informing the solution governor he directed that we deploy health personnel to activate it for use.
Dr. Obidike assured Ndi Anambra that Gov. Soludo is committed to improving the health sector of the state for optimal service delivery to the people.
