The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has announced that federal civil servants will receive their full minimum wage salaries, including arrears, by the end of October.
The recent meeting addressed concerns over rising transportation costs, essential goods, food prices, and petrol.
Among the key agreements, the federal government committed to settling all outstanding wage awards and arrears for workers. Additionally, discussions with state governors will focus on the nationwide implementation of the new minimum wage of N70,000 starting this October.
In an interview with NTA, Ajaero emphasized that payments, including arrears, are expected to be made by the end of the month, though individual agencies and parastatals may negotiate specific payment dates.
“The meeting we held concluded that payments, including arrears, must be completed by the end of October. However, agencies and parastatals can negotiate their own specific payment dates if necessary,” Ajaero stated.
