President Bola Tinubu announced at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports have been abolished. This update was shared by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, via X, formerly known as Twitter.
Onanuga stated, “President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development. A new Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.”
He added, “The National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities of the former Ministry of Sports.”
Additionally, the FEC approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. These decisions were made during today’s FEC meeting in Abuja. Further details to follow…
