Canada Government Set to Welcome 1.45m Immigrants From 2023-2025

The Canadian government says they will welcome 1.45 million immigrants into their country as permanent residents by 2025.

The Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, MP Sean Fraser said this when he released plans on how the immigration plans will be between 2023-2025.

The plan according to him will be to get 465, 000 permanent residents for the country in 2023, 485, 000 for 2024 and 500, 000 in 2025 respectively because of the shortage in labour and the Canadian aging population.

This is in line with Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau’s statement; “last year, Canada welcomed more than 405, 000 migrants into the country, which is the largest number we have welcomed in one year and we will build on that as well set higher targets for the year ahead.”

MP Fraser noted; “our labor force growth is derived from the immigrants that enter the country. Even our census says every one out of 4 persons in the country came as immigrants or permanent residents.”

Currently, Canada is the country with the largest proportion of immigrants in the G7 countries.
