Abiodun Oyebanji has taken the oath of office as the new governor of Ekiti State in the swearing-in ceremony conducted by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Oyewole Adeyeye today at Ekiti State.
In his word, the governor pledged to preserve, protect and defend the state as the number-one citizen.
He noted; “Today marks the beginning of a new dawn for the Ekiti people and I am glad to serve you”.
” As I assume office today, I will actualize the prosperity of our dear state and ensure it becomes a land of opportunity, peace, and progress, where the people and communities will reap the fruits of their labour in dignity, good health, and safety”.
He also noted that priority will be given to gender mainstreaming and women empowerment for all policies and programs of the state.
“I will create employment and income-generating opportunities for our people, making sure children get free and qualitative basic education up to Senior Secondary School 3”.
Governor Oyebanji was declared the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) under the All Progressive Congress (APC) party, which took place on Saturday 18th June 2022, where he won 15 local government areas out of 16 in the state.
