The 2025 Enugu Tech Festival, organized by the Enugu State Government, has been hailed as Nigeria’s biggest technology conference to date. The event, which attracted thousands of young innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts, underscores Enugu’s emergence as a hub for digital transformation.
Speaking at the festival, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, described the gathering as a historic milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a robust digital economy. He praised Governor Peter Mbah for moving beyond policy discussions to practical implementation, positioning Enugu as a leader in the nation’s tech revolution.
Governor Peter Mbah urged young Nigerians to embrace technology, emphasizing that the future belongs to innovation. He highlighted his administration’s investments in digital infrastructure, which have transformed sectors such as security, land administration, and education.
The festival, themed “Coal to Code,” reflects Enugu’s transition from its historical identity as a coal-powered industrial hub to a modern center for technology and innovation. The event aligns with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s vision of co-creating Nigeria’s digital future across all states, rather than centralizing development in Abuja.
Dr. Tijani commended the participants for their commitment to shaping Nigeria’s future through creativity and precision, rather than protest and complaints. He called for collaboration between government, private sector investors, mentors, and educators to sustain the momentum.
The Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, announced that the Enugu Tech Festival will become an annual event, reinforcing the state’s commitment to digital enterprise, intellectual capital, and technological advancement.
The festival was attended by key figures, including Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly Uchenna Ugwu, former Minister of Science and Technology Prof. Barth Nnaji, Chairman of Zinox Technical Leo Stan Ekeh, and Afrinvest Group Managing Director Dr. Ike Chioke.
With Enugu leading the charge in Nigeria’s digital transformation, the festival marks a new era of innovation, investment, and technological progress, setting the stage for a future driven by knowledge and creativity.
