The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the death of one Mrs. Chinyere Odoh, her seven years old daughter, Udochukwu Odoh, four years old son, Chukwuemeka Odoh, and her two sisters; Martina Ezeme and Ngozi Ezeme, at their apartment at Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor, Udenu local government area, Enugu State.
The incident was discovered by the police on Saturday following a distress call from the victim’s neighbours.
Speaking, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe noted that the Commissioner of Police under the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department has directed the conduct of a full-scale investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the sudden and unnatural death of the five persons.
He stated that the preliminary investigation conducted revealed that the 5 persons went to bed the previous night and were not seen by their neighbours on Saturday morning.
DSP Ndukwe further stated that the Udenu Police Division of the Command was notified of the incident around 9.25 am and they proceed to the scene immediately where they break the door and find the dead bodies in two different rooms where they slept the previous night.
“We moved the bodies to the hospital where the doctor on duty confirmed them dead. The bodies were deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.”
