Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the release of N290.8 million for the payment of gratuities and pensions to 37 retirees from February 2025. This follows the earlier settlement of entitlements for January retirees, reinforcing the governor’s commitment to ensuring timely payments for all retired workers.
The government emphasized that these payments will enhance the living standards of senior citizens, boost their purchasing power, and contribute to economic growth in the state. Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen workers’ confidence in the system, assuring them of financial security post-retirement.
Meanwhile, the state government has commenced a verification exercise for civil servants who retired between 2010 and 2024, with plans to clear outstanding gratuities and pension backlogs.
This move underscores the administration’s dedication to financial accountability and social welfare, ensuring retirees receive their rightful benefits.
