Former Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emma Nwaka, has confirmed his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He told The Guardian yesterday that he joined the APC on June 12, 2024, six months after he resigned from the state PDP, in which he was the Abia State Chairman for five years from 2010 to 2015, during which the party became the formidable political party in the state.
Nwaka had unsuccessfully contested for the PDP governorship ticket for the 2023 election. He disclosed that he used the period between disengaging from the PDP and joining the APC to take stock and make up his mind whether to remain a partisan politician and to decide which political party to join or remain in the trenches.
“After much reflection and due consultations, I’ve concluded that the “Sudden look” approach is not the way to go. With my wealth of experience, I am convinced that I’ll be more useful in the process of nation-building if I played politics as an insider.”
On why he chose the APC, he said: “Most of my friends, people whose perspectives on how to move Nigeria forward align with mine, are in APC. So, I had no difficulty in making up my mind to join them.
