Anambra State Government says it will sustain its various intervention programmes in the agricultural sector to boost food production in the state
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor, made this known during the launch of farming season and empowerment of farmers by the Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area at the Council’s Secretariat.
Dr Ihejiofor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Ifeyinwa Uzoka, said the present administration has succeeded in putting measures in place for sustainable agricultural practices
While idenfying introduction of Regenerative agricultural policy, Farm to feed campaign and oil palm /economic trees revolution as some of its policies, he encouraged the citizenry to utilize opportunities which government has promoted in the sector.
He, therefore, lauded the Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area for considering it proper to introduce the initiative, which he described as, the first of its kind in the state.
Earlier,the Mayor, Barr Chijioke Ozumba, said the launch was in line with the agenda of Governor Soludo’s commitment to champion food security.
He further added that the council would partner the state Ministry of Agriculture to procure and distribute over 3000 bundles of cassava, pointing out that prices had been set aside for best cassava, yam and vegetable farmers this year.
