The Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has said that hard times are period that Nigerians should come together and help one another especially the indigent persons in the society.
She said this category of individuals find it difficult to explain their fate and position even that at some times have many mouths to feed yet with little or no resources to get along.
The minister who is on a 1-day working visit to Anambra State said this at the flag off of the distribution at the Warehouse of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Office, Awka.
The visit would also enable her to distribute about 6000 bags of 10 kilogram rice, rebagaged to reach more indigent persons in the state.
She expressed gratitude to the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving all the ministers bags of rice to share to their various states.
She said, “I’m here in my home town Anambra, this October 2024 to share these bags of rice to the most vulnerable people.”
“These items will be shared to all the Local Governments in Anambra. That is why I am here to share and make sure that it gets to the poorest of the poor.”
The minister pleaded with the people that can afford to get rice on their own to allow the poor people to be served as expected.
“If you know you can afford this, please you should not partake in the distribution. This is meant just for the vulnerable people.”
Barr. Kennedy-Ohanenye who hails from Umudioka in Awka, Awka South LGA noted that she is ready to go house to house and make sure that the items got to the real vulnerable people, noting that she was here to serve her people.
The Executive Secretary, SEMA, promised to provide every necessary support needed for a seamless distribution of the items.
