Nigeria Federal Government has presented a Certificate of Registration to two new academic unions; the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA) and the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA).
CONUA and NAMDA are separate bodies of academic unions different from ASUU. CONUA is found in a few federal universities and its National Coordinator is Niyi Sunmonu, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
The certificates were presented by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Hon. Chris Ngige at the Minister’s Conference room, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
