President Muhammadu Buhari has directed all relevant agencies to quickly go to the rescue of the displaced persons caused by the floods across the country.
The president said this through his official Twitter handle, stating that the flood caused a lot of damage to 33 out of the 36 States in the country including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“Last week, I meet with the delegates of some governors and assured them of the full support of the federal government to help those affected by the flood and willingness to work with them to ensure the situation returns to normal.”
On the other hand, the World Food Programme, and the Food and Agriculture Organization noted that the 2022 floods have posed a lot of damage to food security across the globe.
They mentioned countries like Ethiopia, Nigeria, Yemen, and South Sudan, where the food security situation has worsened.
