Ghanaian Deputy Finance Minister, Charles Adu Boahen, Sack!

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo has sacked the Deputy Finance Minister, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen over allegations of impropriety.

The minister was involved in corruption which was allegedly exposed by an undercover journalist who pose as an investor.

The minister told the undercover journalist that it is a practice to pay the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a bribe of $200, 000 dollars before meeting to discuss any possible business deals.

He also noted that they should also give out some jobs to the relatives of the Vice President to enable them establish their businesses in Ghana.

Based on that, some minority lawmakers have called for the probe of the vice president whom the deputy finance minister mentioned.

The vice president on his part distances himself from the allegations noting; ” I do not know of any meeting the deputy finance minister held or some “appearance fee” he is talking about.

“What I cherish most in my life is my integrity and I would not allow anyone to tarnish my reputation, he added”.

Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo has tasked the Special Prosecutor to carry out an investigation into the allegations.

Earlier, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen has been under pressure for poor performance and the highest inflation rate of over 40% affecting Ghana which has made the Ghanaian citizens call for his sack and that of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
