Anambra State Government has commissioned 26 kilometers road projects in Ndiukwuenu-Awa-Ufuma communities of Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
Gov. Charles Soludo while commissioning the road projects, described it as a ‘promise made and a promise kept’ to the people of Awa and Orumba North in general.
According to him, “When I came to Awa for campaign through one of the support groups led by the late Joe Anatune, the deplorable state of this road was a major concern to Ndi Awa and Orumba North as it is the most strategic road that links the local government to Awka.
“We made a promise to undertake and complete the construction of this road if not for anything, but for the blessed memory of the late illustrious son of this community, Mr Joe Anatune.
“Therefore, we have come to commission this 26km of road that runs through Ufuma-Awa-Ndiukwuenu and Amansea. This is a promise kept and we have come to celebrate with the people of Awa and Orumba North.
“This is part of the over 400 kilometers of accessible, standard and good road networks we are constructing across the 21 local government areas of the state. And with this road, Awa and Ndiukwuenu communities that have never seen a tarred road before, are now open and accessible to the world,” he said.
Gov. Soludo who noted that this is just the beginning of witnessing the dividends of democracy and good governance by Ndi Orumba, disclosed his plans to commission more projects and build the biggest green city in the area.
“This is just the beginning, in few weeks, we will be back to commission more road projects, schools, stadium, hospitals, community health centers and many other projects.”
“There is going to emerge a new city along this route in the next few years. We have a draft design of the super city and biggest green city we want to build in this area.
“We are finalizing the acquisition of about 4000 hectres of land from the various communities in Aguata and Orumba that will be the next axis of prosperity and industrial city of Anambra state,” he said.
Also speaking, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Sir Ogochukwu Ekwueme expressed gratitude to Gov. Soludo for his great achievements in the area.
The President-General of Ndiukwuenu Town Union, Mr Ezechukwu Okoli, commended the governor for his achievements within two years of his administration and thanked him for coming to their aid as movement of people and farm produce was very challenging and difficult due to the deplorable state of the road.
