Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State with other dignitaries are expected to attend activities lined up to mark the funeral ceremonies of His Royal Highness, Igwe Chinyelu Nnaemeka Nworah Molokwu.
The traditional ruler of Amawbia of Amawbia Community, Awka South Local Government Area who reigned briefly died at the age of 76 on 29th August, 2022.
Fielding questions from journalists in Amawbia on the funeral programme, the Chairman, planning committee, Dr Ikem Odumodu, said arrangements had been concluded for staging the last Ofala festival in line with the community’s tradition.
The Chairman who spoke through, Sir Emma Nwokoye, added activities would commence on Wednesday, 24th August through Saturday, 27th August, 2022.
Contributing, Sir Nche Nworah Molokwu, younger brother of the departed traditional ruler, described him as a disciplined man who initiated cultural revival and programs that impacted on his subjects.
While stating that his life and times as a businessman and staffer of an Oil Company was eventful, he explained that his reign though short lived brought unity in the community.
According to him, the climax of the last ofala festival will hold on Saturday, 27th August, at Eziokpaligwe Square with cultural performances and displays featuring Nze na Ozo society, Cabinet Members as well as Amawbia Town Union Central Council.
“There will be first Ofala dance by Prince Molokwu with Igwe’s Cabinet, followed by last Ofala dance. Then, turning of Okpaligwe’s seat with 21 canon shots signifying the end of reign of Igwe Chinyelu Molokwu and the declaration of vacancy for the Okpaligwe throne” Sir Molokwu added
