Government Committed to Rebranding Anambra—ANSPPB Boss

By Okechukwu Okolonji :

The Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barr. Chike Maduekwe has reiterated the State Government’s preparedness to turn the state into a mega city and make it liveable for its residents.

He made this assertion when he led the State Government Task Force on Demolition of illegal structures to Maryland Estate Layout, Uruagu Nnewi for the demolition of buildings that were blocking some access roads.

Speaking during an interview with the Press, the Chairman noted that the Estate is a government approved layout stressing that some unscrupulous developers have bastardized the master plan of the layout.

He said that the buildings were marked and the developers issued with a ‘stop work order’ when the constructions were still at the foundation stages on April 2021 but those developers ignored the order and went ahead to complete the structures.

“We hereby warn every developer in the state against building arbitrarily without approvals

and to strictly comply with the Physical Planning Laws of the state

“It is not the intention of government to inflict hardship on citizens of the state but laws are meant to be obeyed otherwise, there are consequences.

“The Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is committed to ensuring that the state does not develop into a slum; anyone who complies with the law is always protected.

“The State Executive Council has directed that the situation where people buy land and the youths will go and collect money from them has been banned in the state and the enforcement will be very strict.

“Governor Soludo’s commitment to build a liveable prosperous homeland has been mainstreamed into the responsibilities of all MDAs.’’

The Anambra State Physical Planning Boss also appealed to Ndi Anambra to support the government by ensuring that they do not build on access roads or on drainage channels.

He urged them to always make sure that their plans were approved before embarking on any building project because there are consequences and penalties.
