Government Sues for Peace in Preparation for Independence Day Celebration

The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated his commitment in restructuring the state and making it habitable for its citizens.

Gov. Soludo made this known during a church service held at Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Anglican Communion, Awka in preparation for the 62nd Independence celebration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim noted that Anambra State is not left out in what is happening presently in the country as regards killings, kidnappings and all sorts of insecurities, which he said is not the solution to the problem we are facing.

“Nigerians should be proud of their fatherland, pray for your country, pray for the leaders and stop laying curses. Challenges will surely come but how we handle it matters alot.”

He emphasized that one of the priorities of the state government which is grassroots development is still achievable, pointing out that the government must surely improve the living standard of its citizens.

He urged Nigerians to hope for a better country, abide by the rules of the law and contribute their quota toward nation building.

In a sermon, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim who was represented by the Administrative Assistant to the Bishop, Ven Rex Kanu said that Nigeria Independence Day Celebration is very unique as it reminds us the bond we share as one nation.

While thanking God for the gift of life to witness yet another celebration, Ven. Kanu urged the leaders in various level of government to see leadership as a call to serve and always have a listening ear toward the needs of the people.
He praised the leadership of Prof. Soludo, urging him not to relent in achieving a safe and secured Anambra.
