To make Nigeria one of the top 5 biggest economy globally, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called for a collective action by all stakeholders in the Nigerian project to make it work.
The clamor was made by the governor while speaking on Nigeria’s 64th independence day anniversary at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square Awka.
According to the governor, a new Nigeria is possible if Nigerians put their resources together with the right political will.
He foresees hope for Nigeria’s future not minding the travails engulfing the country.
Governor Soludo predicted that the labours of Nigeria’s past leaders namely Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Michael Okpara etc will not be in vain.
In Anambra state, the governor reiterated his determination to invest in children as leaders of tomorrow.
To this end, he reechoed his free education policy from the nursery cadre to the SS3 cadre in all public schools in the state.
The governor made a promise to partner with the 77 communities in the state with non existent public schools with a view to ensuring that the free education policy of the state government permeates throughout the 179 communities in the state.
For the mission and public mission schools in the state, he promised to sustain his assistance to them to remain part of his educational policy agenda.
The governor further re announced a new minimum wage of seventy thousand naira for workers in the state employ to be implemented as from October this year.
On the just concluded local government elections in the state, he congratulated the party and the electorate for delivering all the 21 LGAS to all APGA Chairmanship candidates and 326 Councillorship candidates to the party.
He predicted a greater future for the party expecting that all hands should be on deck to build a more prosperous state.
Speaking to newsmen during the occasion, the State Commissioner for Information Dr. Law Mefor expressed his belief in a brighter future for Nigeria, expecting that Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic divides should work sincerely for a better country.
Dr. Mefor commended governor Soludo for his giants strides in building a greater future for the state through his investment in children and youths, and for his minimum wage package for workers in the state etc.
On his part, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Humphrey Nwafor appreciated Governor Soludo for announcing a new minimum wage for workers in the state and expects more productivity from the state work force.
Speaking on the achievements of the governor, the traditional ruler of Omasi Igwe Benjamin Okeji extolled the state chief executive for announcing his free education policy, new minimum wage for workers in the state,and other land mark achievements.
Igwe Okeji further expressed joy over APGA’s total victory in the just concluded local government elections in the state.
He urged that the state traditional rulers council be reconstituted in the state to make traditional rulers more relevant in the affairs of the state.
His Okpuno counterpart Igwe Sunday Okafor in his reaction, expressed joy over the mandate given to APGA in the just concluded local government elections in the state and expects that the citizenry will sustain their support to governor Soludo to continue to deliver on his promise.
Other well meaning citizens of the state who felicitated with Governor Soludo and APGA on the party’s victory at the just concluded local government elections in the state include the Presidents General of the Okpuno town union Engr. Luke Egwuatu, Chief Daniel Okoye of Nawfia, Chief Uchenna Ogbonna of Ndikelionwu, a Community Leader of Isi Achina Chief Joseph Nwakpadolu, and Dr. Johnson Ezedinachi from Ukpo.
Some dignitaries that graced the 64th independence anniversary at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme square include the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, a member of the board of trustees of APGA Chief Maja Umeh, Some Service Chiefs in the state, the newly elected chairman of Ihiala LGA Engr. Ifeanyichukwu Orjiakor, other elected Chairmen of LGAS in the state, among other distinguished guests.
