Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has applauded the Transition Committee Chairman (TCC) of Anaocha Local Government, Mr. Ikechukwu Ozoh for playing a key role in the distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs), advocating for the public to make judicious use of the ITNs.
Dr. Obidike explained that Gov. Charles Soludo is committed to ensuring that Ndi Anambra is protected from all forms of diseases. We are more interested in disease prevention because prevention they say is better than cure.
The commissioner said this after monitoring the ongoing ITNs distribution with the Anaocha TC in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha (LGA).
According to him, Gov. Soludo while flagging the ITNs distribution few weeks ago reiterated his commitment in ensuring all households across the state receive the malaria net.
“I thank the Transition Committee Chairman for following the footsteps of the governor by flagging off the distribution exercise as well as monitoring the process.
“We are glad that the houses visited had their Nets through the door to door approach, the objective is also to ensure that for every 2 persons in the state, there is one bed-net to sleep inside and people here acknowledged this.
“Those that have collected their nets should please air them under a shade for 24 hours before hanging and sleeping inside.
“Women are to play crucial roles during this period, we must recognize them in a special way for their commitment.
“I decided to be here because it is my responsibility; it may interest you to know that before coming here I have visited two healthcare facilities in Mgbakwu, Awka North for on the spot check.”
The TCC, Mr. Ikechukwu Ozoh, applauded Gov. Soludo for his commitment to stamping out malaria across the state as well as his passion to improve the health sector.
“One of the directives given to us by the governor is for us to drive down his good intention and vision to all the nooks and crannies of the state,” Mr Ozoh said.
