Anambra State Ministry of Health Hospital Task Force team has carried out unannounced inspections at Onitsha, Ogidi and Ifitedunu General Hospitals.
“Since the inception of Gov. Charles Soludo’s led administration the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike had in a management meeting cautioned that health personnel working in the state must justify the salary they earn.’’

Leader of the team, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, said the purpose of the routine inspection is to monitor activities of health personnel as well as to check on areas that need intervention for optimal service delivery to the public.
Dr. Uchebo expressed dissatisfaction on the lesser fare attitude of workers toward managing Government health facilities stressing that defaulting persons would soon be sanctioned for negligence and absent from duty.
According to her, the routine inspection was initiated by the Commissioner for Health with the objective of reviving the healthcare of the state and ensuring commitment of health personnel across government owned facilities.

Deputy Chief Medical Director Onitsha General Hospital, Dr. Nnamdi Ekpelinwa, said such visits provide them with an ample opportunity to interact with the ministry especially on their challenges.
A patient, Mr. Christopher Okorji, expressed his displeasure at the nonchalant attitude of health personnel in attending to them.
Mr. Okorji urged the taskforce to maintain the visitations saying that it has made it possible for him not to spend the whole day in the hospital.
He applauded the State Government for appointing a commissioner of health that has passion for the job.
He said, “even before this taskforce team visited I have seen the commissioner visit here unannounced and we thank him so much for his care’’.
