Health Ministry Concludes Technical Working Group Meeting on Laboratory Quality Assurance

Anambra State Ministry of Health has concluded a Technical Working Group (TWG), meeting on Laboratory Quality Assurance (LQA).

Mrs. Philomena Okeke, Head of Directorate Medical Support Services, State Ministry of Health said that the meeting provides them an ample opportunity for the upcoming validation of samples for the quality assurance exercise.

“The TWG is made up of Medical Scientists who help prepare in the validation of samples during the quality assurance exercise.

“They are qualified scientists, very capable and learned scientists that know what it takes to do the job efficiently.

“So, their work is simply to prepare the validated sample for the quality assurance exercise.

“The group has to meet, derived strategies on how to go about the exercise because samples has to be prepared and validated before it is sent to the recipients the medical laboratory in the state and this is a group that has to stay together to prepare on how to go about it.’’

She Okeke explained that Laboratory Quality Assurance encompasses a range of activities that enable laboratories to achieve and maintain high levels of accuracy and proficiency despite changes in test methods and the volume of specimens tested.

She commended Gov. Charles Soludo; the commissioner, for granting them the approval and support to conduct the meeting noting that the exercise, when concluded, will help improve care people receive from hospitals.
