Anambra State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information has paid a familiarization visit to the state Ministry of Information to gain insights into the ministry’s operations, identify challenges, and explore avenues for legislative support.
The Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr Fred Ezenwa, who represents Onitsha South One constituency, was received by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat in Awka.
During the visit, Mr Ezenwa emphasized that the purpose of the familiarization visit was to foster a better understanding of the ministry’s functions, challenges, and potential areas for improvement.
He stressed that the visit was not intended to criticize or find fault, but rather to collaborate on initiatives that would enhance the ministry’s effectiveness in alignment with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of a prosperous and progressive Anambra State.
“The essence of this visit is to ensure that we are well-informed about the workings of the ministry, so we can provide the necessary legislative backing to help it overcome any hurdles and perform optimally,” Ezenwa stated.”
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu provided a detailed overview of the ministry’s operations, highlighting both its achievements and the challenges it faces.
He outlined the ministry’s efforts in promoting the state government’s image, disseminating accurate information, and supporting the governor’s developmental agenda.
Sir Paul also expressed gratitude to the Committee for their visit, noting that their support would be instrumental in helping the ministry navigate its challenges and fulfill its mandate effectively.
“The visit of this Committee is timely and encouraging. Your support will undoubtedly strengthen our capacity to serve the state better and align with the government’s aspirations,” Sir Paul remarked.
