Ifitedunu Community Donates Motorcycles to Vigilantes, Tasks Communities to Report Criminals

In support of the fight against insecurity, Ifitedunu community in Dunukofia Local Government Area (DLGA), Anambra State has donated seven motorcycles to the Anambra State Vigilante Services (AVS) Ifitedunu command, urging communities not to hide criminals.

Inaugurating the Vigilante Security Motorcycles at his palace during their 2022 New Yam festival, Igwe Chukwuemekalum Ilunoegbunam, Eze Dunu of Ifitedunu said that crime, insecurity were localized.

“Our solution Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo made it clear that we have locally made insecurity. Security should be localized. If every community builds its security, Anambra will be secured.

“People know their children. We know ourselves. I know the criminals in my community. Criminals should not be protected. Everyone should join hands against insecurity. Cooperation with security agencies and giving out useful information will make our society better.

“Ifitedunu decided to empower our vigilante with these motorcycles. Two of the motorcycles were donated by Sen. Uche Ekwunife. Moreso, arrangements have been made to purchase a security van.They shall be used for surveillance.

“To aid security, Pastor Benji Akabueze has installed solar lights with more than 2000 panels to illuminate all major streets of Ifitedunu because criminals thrive more under darkness, they do not like their faces to be seen.”

Also, the Transition Chairman DLGA, Mr. Onyemaobi Nonyelum commended Igwe Ilounoegbunam for Ifitedunu’s security consciousness, saying that the security meeting he had with all traditional rulers in DLGA was in line with Soludo’s vision.

“The Igwes are the Chief Security Officers of their various communities. Eze dunu Ifitedunu will live long. Nawgu also donated motorcycles to their vigilante. It is a synergy that works. Soludo wants a peaceful, secured, industrial home state,” Nonyelum said.

The AVS Commander, Chief Mmaduabuchi Nwafor Akaniru was elated, eulogizing the monarch and his cabinet members, Sen. Uche Ekwunife including all illustrious sons of Ifitedunu who contributed and those who were still willing to contribute toward the AVS mobility and surveillance.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Dunukofia, Anaocha and Njikoka Federal constituency and member representing Dunukofia at the Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Lawrence Ezeudu after eulogizing Igwe Iloegbunam also promised additional motorcycles.

“Eze dunu Ifitedunu has opened the gateway for us to celebrate New Yam, which marks the end of a planting year (Igu aro). I feel elated that Igwe has publicly announced my nomination and subsequent coronation as a cabinet chief. I owe my bills to my town, Ifitedunu,” Ezeudu said.

According to the New Yam festival Committee Chairman, Chief Sir Prince Oduche, peace has returned to Ifitedunu, let us come together as brothers for the progress of our community. I thank everyone both at home and in The Diaspora for our contributions.

“This New Yam festival was a huge success but our upcoming 2022 Ofala on Dec. 29 would be the first of its kind in the history of DLGA. Let us think home, no amount is too small or big for your community,” Chief Oduche said.
